lyrics

He’s been following a left hand path on the right coast
Never crossed an ocean in my life: not found the right boat
He says they hang on the rooftops, they’re young in the parks
They slide down ravines and get drunk in the dark

I’ve been following a right hand path on the South Coast
Is it a sparrow or a hummingbird I need most?
Here there’s no kids on the rooftops but they’re tough in the parks
They light up their fires and get drunk in the dark

He was stuck in Mendocino where the witches used to turn it on
And he said every magick songdream, every hunch I had was wrong
He’s tasted more than most and I wish I could relate
But when I asked he said, “This can be an empty place”

He’s been following a left hand path on the right coast
Kicking through the Valley with the guitar girls and last night’s ghosts
He says they hang on the rooftops, they’re young in the parks
They slide down ravines and get drunk in the dark

All we push ourselves through
Is mirrored for you
In the valleys they grew
