Hymn of the Doubled Cross

from The Temple Hymnal by The Unseen Temple

/

about

Again we must turn to Julian Camacho’s work for a treatment of the Doubled Cross:
This symbol bears more than a passing resemblance to the Patriarchal Cross, a variation on the Christian symbol found in the Byzantine Empire of the 9th century where it was often used for political rather than religious reasons, denoting clerks and missionaries. Acre trimmed the Patriarchal Cross so both bars were level and claimed rather vaguely that it represented “man’s inherent duality”. Some scholars claim that Acre took the symbol from The Cross of Caravaca (a double-cross-barred crucifix on which the figure of Jesus is flanked by two winged angels who kneel in postures of prayer) which he encountered on a trip to Mexico in 1996.

lyrics

Show me what
Came before you
Show me what
Is to come

Show me what
The root of fear is
Show me how
We overcome

Show me what
Came before you
Show me what
Is to come

Show me what
The price of love is
Show me how
Our work is done
